This session will provide Practice Greenhealth partners with a forum to share their experiences developing the elements of effective sustainability governance. Facilitators will guide participants through discussions focused on key processes, such as how to use stakeholder mapping to inform sustainability program structures and strategies to build trust with stakeholders from a system-level perspective.

This event is part of the Accelerating Health Care Sustainability series. To get the most out of this series, we strongly suggest that if you attend an introductory session held early in the week, you also attend the corresponding discussion forum held later the same week. Attending the introductory session is not a prerequisite for participation in the discussion forum.

Gwyneth is a seasoned management professional with over 20 years of experience in public health, hospital administration, and higher education. She recently joined Practice Greenhealth after nine years as a director of professional operations at Boston Medical Center. She also worked in the Center for Clinical Effectiveness at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, the Department of Health Policy and Management at Harvard School of Public Health, and for the procurement departments of Yale University and Harvard University. She has extensive experience with change management, communications, metrics development and reporting, collaborating with strategic sourcing teams, and implementing new policies and procedures across complex organizational structures.

Shanda Demorest, DNP supports the Sustainability Solutions team in advancing environmental sustainability throughout the health care sector. Dr. Demorest earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Health Innovation and Leadership from the University of Minnesota, and she holds the LEED Green Associate credential through the U.S. Green Building Council. A cardiovascular nurse with horticultural training, Shanda is co-founder of the Nurses Climate Challenge: A national campaign to educate 50,000 health professionals about the health impacts of climate change. Dr. Demorest serves as an Affiliate Faculty member at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing.
