This session will provide Practice Greenhealth partners with a forum to share their experiences engaging staff to amplify sustainability program success. Facilitators will guide participants through a series of interactive exercises, exploring how to adapt employee engagement strategies that have proven successful in other departments to sustainability issues, what engaged really means, and strategic stakeholder partnering, organizing, and delegating.

This event is part of the Accelerating Health Care Sustainability series. To get the most out of this series, we strongly suggest that if you attend an introductory session held early in the week, you also attend the corresponding discussion forum held later the same week. Attending the introductory session is not a prerequisite for participation in the discussion forum.

Jake comes to us from his most recent position as a Sustainable Technologies Sales Consultant at Cardinal Health. Jake spent more than 7 years working with a diverse array of health systems in the United States to reduce waste and create financial savings through medical device reprocessing. He was twice named Sales Rep of the Year and was a member of his organization's Sales Leadership Council. Before his time at Cardinal Health, he worked for the GPO Resource Optimization & Innovation (ROi) as part of ROi's Private Label team. Jake holds an undergraduate degree in Systems Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, with a minor in Spanish. Jake brings a background in consultative selling, large account management, data analysis, and contract management, among other skills.

Bio

Shanda Demorest, DNP supports the Sustainability Solutions team in advancing environmental sustainability throughout the health care sector. Dr. Demorest earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Health Innovation and Leadership from the University of Minnesota, and she holds the LEED Green Associate credential through the U.S. Green Building Council. A cardiovascular nurse with horticultural training, Shanda is co-founder of the Nurses Climate Challenge: A national campaign to educate 50,000 health professionals about the health impacts of climate change. Dr. Demorest serves as an Affiliate Faculty member at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing.
