Several Pacific Northwest sustainability leads were inspired by the collaborative research, assessment, and solutions developed by Dr. Brian Chesebro and Andy Mason from Providence St. Vincent Medical Center that was presented during the 2022 CleanMed Conference. With continued interest, the group convened a collaborative to expand their solutions across the region with the goal of transforming the delivery method of nitrous oxide within hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers to radically reduce leaks and resulting greenhouse gas emissions.

Kristen has worked in university sustainability offices and urban sustainability nonprofits, where she’s led zero waste, social sustainability, and strategic planning efforts. She believes justice, wellness, and community health are fundamental parts of sustainability. She has a B.A. in anthropology and sustainability and an M.S. in environmental governance. Based in the New York City area, she loves being outdoors and enjoys hiking, biking, and hammocking around the Lower Hudson Valley.

He brings over 15 years of experience in nonprofit finance with a particular focus on implementing new systems and maximizing efficiencies of existing systems. Michael spends most of his time living in the Catskill mountains. He is an avid gardener, a self-proclaimed "Bill.com fanatic,” and enjoys downhill and cross-country skiing.

The Stephanie Davis Waste Reduction and Pollution Prevention Award and Scholarship is an enduring tribute to Davis, who worked with Health Care Without Harm at its inception in 1996. Davis was a tireless champion of the movement toward sustainable health care who worked to reduce waste and eliminate the use of harmful chemicals and materials in health care products and processes.
