Whether or not you’re going out to bid, you may want a list of products that have environmental benefits or are certified to meet reputable third party standards. Follow the links below to find brand-name listings of environmentally preferable products.

  • U.S. EPA's Greener Products List is a portal designed to help users navigate greener products related to EPA programs (such as Design for the Environment (DfE)) and to search products based on type of user and specific product interests.
  • UL ECOLOGO certified products in dozens of product categories.
  • Carpets that meet the NSF/ANSI 140 Sustainable Carpet Assessment standard. Platinum level meets the California Gold Sustainable Carpet Standard. Search for carpet by clicking on a "Sustainable Product Certification."
  • Cradle to Cradle Products - Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute certifies a variety of products meeting multiple attributes (including building materials, furniture)
  • E-Stewards Recyclers have been certified to recycle electronic waste in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Energy Star electronics and building products that save energy.
  • EPEAT - Electronics Products Environmental Assessment Tool - search registry for products registered under the categories below:
    • Computers, Monitors, Laptops 
    • Imaging Equipment (Copiers, Printers, Multifunctional Devices, etc)
    • Televisions 
    • Mobile Phones
  • Compostable Food Ware certified by the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI)
  • Freight & Delivery Services – Ask your supplier to join EPA’s SmartWay Transport Partnership Program and commit to measurable goals reducing emissions.
  • Green Seal certified products covering many categories:
  • Low Emitting Interior Finishings & Materials – Building products meeting various environmental attributes, including low VOCs, recycled content, and FSC certified wood.
  • Office and Institutional Furniture
    • products that do not contain formalydehyde, halogenated organic flame retardants, PVC and perfluorinated compounds as part of the Healthier Hospital Safer Chemicals Challenge
    • products certified to meet BIFMA’s (Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association) e3 Sustainability Standard as certified through level™.
  • Paper & Paper Products with environmental attributes
  • Recycled Content Products that meet EPA’s Comprehensive Procurement Guidelines for recycled content.

  • WaterSense appliances and fixtures that save water.
