(Greenhealth cost of ownership toolkit) Hospitals and group purchasing organizations (GPO) can use this calculator to account for many environmental costs that occur from the purchase of products through to their disposal. By considering costs beyond the product purchase price, such as energy and water the product can require, any supplemental parts and end of life disposal, the calculator allows you to identify which product / scenario has the lowest cost of ownership and the lowest environmental cost. In addition, the calculator presents the cost of acquiring the product as a percent of the cost of ownership. This metric highlights the financial significance of product use and disposal, and as such can support better procurement decisions
