With over 25 years of experience as a practicing interventional radiologist, NIH-funded scientist, and educator, Omary (he/him) is professor of radiology and biomedical engineering at Vanderbilt University. Omary was chair of radiology at Vanderbilt until 2023, when he stepped down to pursue a sabbatical in sustainable health care, when he launched The Green Leap, a multi-media platform for sustainable health care. Most recently, he founded and serves as CEO of Greenwell Project, a nonprofit with a mission to design sustainable medicine together with patients. He served as president of the Association of Academic Radiology and president-elect of the Society for Chairs of Academic Radiology Departments. Omary is an avid public speaker who promotes sustainability and innovation in health care for international organizations and for the public, and holds a Master of Science.
