Greenhealth Approved seal earns recognition from EPA for medical products
The Greenhealth Approved ecolabel for sustainable medical products is now included in the EPA’s federal purchasing recommendations, supporting eco-friendly health care procurement

Reston, VA, December 5, 2024 – Practice Greenhealth is proud to announce that its Greenhealth Approved seal has been added to the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Recommendations of Specifications, Standards, and Ecolabels for Federal Purchasing. This inclusion enables federal purchasers to easily identify products that meet rigorous sustainability criteria and help to advance more environmentally responsible purchasing decisions for federal facilities.

“We are honored that the EPA now recognizes the Greenhealth Approved seal as a trusted indicator of products that reduce toxic chemicals, lower environmental impact, and promote energy and waste reduction,” said Paul Bogart, Practice Greenhealth’s executive director.  “This recognition makes it easier for federal purchasers and the market to identify medical products that align with sustainability goals and meet specific environmental standards designed for health care facilities.”

The Greenhealth Approved seal identifies products that meet strict sustainability benchmarks, enabling health care providers to quickly select environmentally preferred options without conducting their own ingredient verification. This standard ensures products reduce harmful environmental impacts while promoting better health outcomes.

Inclusion in the EPA’s recommendations is the result of a thorough application process, where Greenhealth Approved provided detailed information on its program’s sustainability criteria, transparency practices, and operational management. The application highlighted the program’s commitment to fostering environmentally responsible purchasing in the health care sector.
