A challenge that hospitals are facing is how to successfully integrate recycling practices into a patient care setting, and understanding the economic, regulatory, resourcing and infrastructure nuances that come with it. This webinar will address the process of activating a plastics recycling program in a patient care setting from initial planning and business decisions through program implementation and improvement considerations. Content will be based on data and lessons learned from pilot study work conducted with Stanford University Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente.

Krisanne Hanson, Director of Sustainability, Stanford University Medical Center
With over 25 years of healthcare experience, Krisanne Hanson is recognized for her leadership roles in Support Service Departments including Environmental Services, Engineering & Maintenance, Foodservices, Patient Transport and Groundskeeping. 

Ms. Hanson is well-versed in healthcare waste challenges dealing with franchise agreements, landfill requirements, hazardous waste management, recycling opportunities, grant fund availability and local waste vendor partnerships. In addition, she has been invited to represent several hospitals on local and regional ecology and sustainability committees. She has been invited to speak on healthcare waste topics regionally and nationally. Her passion and responsibilities are now entirely focused on greening healthcare operations at Stanford Hospital and Clinics and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital.
