Topic

This talk will center on the need to develop and integrated approach for a management system that is aligned with the entire organization. Today’s Environmental Management System needs to reach beyond the regulatory arena and must be weaved into the fabric of the entire organization. Every EH&S program has elements of an EMS already imbedded in it. A robust EMS contains: A repeatable and defendable risk discovery and prioritization process. Current documented procedures based on a risk assessment. A review and audit process that identifies EH&S risks and abates them accordingly. LEAN principles help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, systems and implement a cohesive management approach. Tools (like LEAN) can help a facility achieve their goals. Understand why it is critically important for organizations to locate and assimilate information on environmental issues. Understand that a well designed EMS will allow the organization to obtain information quickly. Realize the benefits both organizationally and economically in developing a robust EMS. Understand how tools, like LEAN can help environmental programs.
