An overview of the history of green building in health care with a focus on the development of the Green Guide for Health Care. A review of health care projects that have achieved LEED certification. And, an interactive conversation with webinar participants on the emerging issues that will be important to the next generation of green building tools tailored to the health care sector. Understand the history and fundamental issues associated with green building in health care. Clarify the role of the Green Guide for Health Care in the growth of green building projects in the health care industry. Review common, successful green building strategies for health care facilities. Participate in a strategic conversation about the future of green building tools tailored to the health care environment.


Boulder Associates Boulder Associates is a national architectural, interior and graphic design firm specializing in healthcare and senior living environments. Boulder Associates has successfully certified two LEED silver hospital projects, shattering the long-held myth that progressive care settings and sustainability could not be achieved in tandem.


Adele Houghton, AIA, LEED AP, Green Guide for Health Care
Adele serves as Project Manager for the Green Guide for Health Care, a voluntary, best practices green building toolkit tailored to the health care environment. Adele manages the day-to-day business of the Green Guide for Health Care, including its educational outreach projects such as the monthly newsletter and webinar series. She supports registered projects and coordinated the development of the most recent edition of the Green Guide, Version 2.2, released in January 2007. Currently, Adele is managing a major revision to the Green Guide Operations section, anticipated for release in Spring 2008. Adele is a licensed Architect in the State of Texas; a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA); a member of the Austin, TX, Chapter of the AIA Committee on the Environment (COTE); chair of the 2008 Gulf Coast Green conference (hosted by AIA Houston COTE); and, a member of the Balcones Chapter of the US Green Building Council.
