Topic

Practice Greenhealth’s Healthier Food aligns with the Health Care without Harm Environmental Nutrition Framework, which acknowledges that healthy food cannot be defined by nutritional quality alone. It is the end result of a food system that conserves and renews natural resources, advances social justice and animal welfare, builds community wealth, and fulfills the food and nutrition needs of all eaters now and into the future.

Join Thresa Pattee to review the metrics and data collection requirements to track and report out on healthy food initiatives.

Thresa will review the healthier food goals, the measurements to track progress year over year and share resources to help your organization make progress in this very important intersection of population health, environmental health and community resilience.

Key participants could include Sustainability lead, Food and Nutrition Champion, and Population Health team.  In the 2018 Environmental Excellence Awards healthier food metrics include reduction in meat purchases, increase in sustainable meat purchasing, increase in local food purchases, increase in sustainable food purchases and increasing access to tap water and healthy beverages.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand how Practice Greenhealth tracks healthier food programs.
  2. Understand why Healthy Food is an important strategy to build sustainable food systems and community resilience.
  3. Understand how to access Healthier Food tools and Resources.
