Sentara Williamsburg: Trash Police Turning This Hospital Green

Try to put something recyclable in the trash bin at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, and you might get caught.

Members of the hospital's Green Team are sort of like school hall monitors. But instead of busting students who aren't where they're supposed to be, they keep an eye on the hospital's trash, making sure that anything recyclable ends up in the recycle bin and not the garbage can.

"Up on the nursing floors, they are just die-hards up there," said Don West, who started the volunteer Green Team effort. "I'm just really pleased with the enthusiasm for recycling."
