Chart success via free EPA tools: EPA SmartWay

EPA SmartWay is an open-access, voluntary, market-driven partnership to help businesses move goods in the cleanest, most efficient way possible. Since 2004, the program has provided a consistent set of tools and information, enabling companies across the supply chain to enhance the fuel efficiency of fleet vehicles.

More than 3,000 of the nation’s shippers, including many Fortune 500 companies, are using SmartWay tools to assess, track, and reduce transportation-related carbon, energy use, and air emissions. The program also provides technical expertise and financial assistance to small- and medium-sized businesses to help upgrade to cleaner, more efficient trucks.

Since 2004, SmartWay’s U.S. partners and affiliates have saved 84 million metric tons of CO2, 1.7 million tons NOx, 70,000 tons particulate matter, 196.5 million barrels of oil, and $27.8 billion dollars in fuel costs. EPA SmartWay transportation reduction strategies are proven in the transportation sector and are an available resource for supply chain professionals, hospitals and health care systems to protect the health and well-being of citizens, especially in low-income communities near ports, highway, air, and rail infrastructure.
