Cleaning of Reusable Grounding Pads in the OR
One more question for the day. We’ve had hospitals involved in our Greening the OR initiative mention that they are utilizing reusable grounding pads in the OR, citing decreased waste as well as decreased time for OR nurses during set up and improved performance. At the same time, we’ve received feedback from other hospitals about concerns relative to appropriately cleaning and disinfecting these reusable grounding pads for reuse in the OR along with infection prevention concerns. Are there hospitals who ARE using these items and who have developed an appropriate cleaning and disinfection protocol who would be willing to share their success with us? As always, we hope to promote environmentally preferable process and products in the OR but only where safety and quality are guaranteed and supported by proper protocol.
We’d appreciate any insights! You can respond to me directly if you’d prefer not to share the process or stories publicly.
Many thanks,
