HealthTrust Purchasing Group is a group purchasing organization supporting over 1,400 hospitals and 1,500 ASCs, physician practices and alternate care sites. With an annual purchasing volume exceeding $15 Billion, HealthTrust is committed to obtaining the best price for high-quality clinically recommended products while continuously improving our services to the patients, physicians and clinicians we serve.
At HealthTrust, our commitment to purchasing Sustainability is evidenced through evolving environmentally focused supplier contracts and educational curriculum. Our current EPP goals and projects include:
Providing members with access to environmentally friendly products and services when available and cost effective with quality and safety profiles that meet that of other available offerings.
Including detailed product content information in clinical product evaluations when applicable (DEHP, PVC, BFR’s, etc.)
In the area of approved device reprocessing/remanufacturing, we have programs in place with two contracted vendors that have been recently enhanced to include a new industry–first collaboration between HealthTrust, Practice Greenhealth and Ascent Healthcare to focus on promoting and educating our members on the significant environmental impact of reprocessing/remanufacturing. As a dual source contract, we also maintain an agreement with SterilMed ensuring that our members are able to choose a leading vendor in this area that best fits their needs.
A new Item Management System named Genesis is under development with specific design criteria to support the indexing of relevant EPP attributes in a searchable and reportable format. The comprehensive list of these attributes was developed in conjunction with Practice Greenhealth to ensure we are asking the most important questions of our vendor partners when it comes to product manufacturing, packaging, utilization, and disposal and their impact on the environment.
