The surplus assets that are no longer needed in US hospitals are sought after and utilized throughout the world. 80% of the medical equipment sold at Centurion Service Group’s auctions is used outside the United States. As responsible business partners we try to take as much of the surplus equipment as we can, as long as it is saleable and financially viable to do so; as responsible citizens we try to get as much of that equipment sold for reuse throughout the world. In fact, 99% of the items that are consigned to Centurion Service Group sell at our live auctions. Of that 1% of medical equipment that is not purchased, we make sure to recycle as much as possible. Furthermore, monitors and other equipment that have contaminating components are always disposed of in accordance to EPA standards. Trash is trash, so some medical equipment needs to be thrown away by hospitals, but the majority of medical equipment that is thrown away is usable. Our certified appraisers review all the surplus lists to guide hospitals as to what has value and what doesn’t.
