Vernacare's unique approach combines biodegradable, bedside products such as bedpans, urinals and emesis basins made of bleach-free, 100% post consumer newsprint with a specially-designed, disposal unit. The resulting "closed" system provides a safe, efficient, cost effective method of waste disposal that saves nursing time, reduces cross-contamination and removes plastic bedpans, urinals, basins, etc. from the waste stream.
Using only cold water and a simple mechanical action, the disposal unit breaks down Vernacare maceratable utensils safely and efficiently disposing of them directly into the sewage system. The benefits are an environmentally responsible, time conscious method of waste disposal that limits exposure to splashes and sprays associated with cleaning plastics while reducing the spread of HAI's.
Patient Utensils:

Furthermore, our biodegradable products are manufactured in a facility that recycles all water used in the manufacturing process. The Vernacare system eliminates the use of plastic utensils, hence reducing landfill deposits.
