SIMPONI™ (golimumab) is a human monoclonal antibody that acts as a TNF (Tumor Necrosis Factor) blocker.
Simponi in the US market is delivered in one of two options - the option being applied for is the 50 mg/0.5 mL in a single-dose prefilled SmartJect autoinjector. Dosing for Simponi is monthly or 12 injections per year.
SIMPONI™ (golimunab) uses 35% less consumable cartridges than competitors. It is best in class with an 82% reduction in size of distribution containers. It's also the only brand to use innovative reusable GREENBOX™ ePacks that are soy-based and listed by USDA as the only Biopreferred heat transfer material available. This avoids the use of styrofoam as a shipping material which in turn eliminates the consumption of petroleum-derived styrene (or vinyl benzene - a suspected carcinogen) and HCFC-142b (an ozone depleting substance scheduled for phase out by 2015) that are used to make styrofoam.
